APR has developed an improved crank pin kit for the Toyota 2JZ engine. These upgraded units are manufactured from ARP 2000 material which offers a tensile strength of 220,000 PSI and is over 45% stronger than the factory specified Class 8 bolt. This increase in material strength is combined with an oversized washer that is both thicker and larger in diameter to take advantage of the increased clamping force and properly attach the damper to the crank over a larger surface area.
The additional clamping force provided helps to secure the harmonic damper to the crankshaft, allowing it to function as intended and absorbing the unwanted kinetic energy caused by unwanted crankshaft movement. This reduces the risk of the damper detaching from the crankshaft, which can occur in racing environments where high revs are the norm. This bolt kit is designed for use with the OEM crank pulley. However, we recommend pairing it with our Titan Motorsports crank damper for the ultimate protection for your engine.
