A catch tank is essential on a high-performance vehicle to protect the engine from increased blow-by from the crankcase that accumulates when driving at high power. Excess oil-saturated air flowing back into the intake tract can lead to performance losses.
11-17 Mustang GT Catch Tank Kit Details :
Radium Engineering's catch tanks feature large 10AN ORB ports, a 4AN ORB drain port, 2-stage oil separators, and an O-ring sealed dipstick. These kits attach to the engine through the factory holes in the valve covers and blend seamlessly with the surrounding components. These two oil catch tanks (PCV side and crankcase side) operate completely independently and are sold individually or together. They do NOT vent to the atmosphere (VTA) and are therefore suitable for exhaust and railway use. Closed-loop systems remove the oil and sludge from the PCV gases before sending them to the engine for combustion. A closed-loop system also promotes crankcase vacuum for optimal performance. In addition, closed systems prevent unwanted oil vapors from entering the interior. The built-in dipsticks in the collection tanks allow easy inspection of the accumulated liquid. No cutting, drilling or permanent modifications to the vehicle are required.

The 20-0267-FL PCV Catch Tank Kit is used on the Mustang GT in both the S197 and S550 chassis. It is mounted on the front right engine bank.
This catch tank runs in line with the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve and retains its factory function. When the pressure in the intake manifold is near or higher than atmospheric pressure, the PCV check valve closes and thus this hose experiences no flow. Conversely, a "metered" vacuum is created in the PCV hose when the engine is idling, cruising, and braking. This normally draws unwanted crankcase fumes, unused fuel and oil sludge into the intake manifold immediately after a high load run. Note: Because the Radium Catch Cans are pressure tight, they are also suitable for boost pressure applications, so connection to the intake manifold is permissible. The kit installs in minutes and is easily removed for maintenance.
The Crankcase Ventilation (CCV) Catch Tank Kits (11-14 = 20-0279-FL, 15-17 = 20-0287-FL) mount to the Mustang GT's front left engine bank as shown below. This catch tank runs in line with the crankcase ventilation opening. At low load it is at atmospheric pressure, but when the engine is running at high load (WOT) this hose will experience high flow out of the crankcase. This would normally result in a build up of oil and sludge in the air cleaner intake pipe. A turbocharged or supercharged engine can experience oil accumulation in the charge air cooler which can affect the thermal efficiency characteristics of the heat exchanger and result in reduced performance.
The sound tube has been removed in the image above for clarity.
NOTE : There are 2 different kits because the vehicle's OEM intake is designed differently. 20-0279-FL is shown above and 20-0287-FL is shown below.
Each set contains the following :
-Anodized catch tank with integrated condenser and dipstick
-Anodized laser cut Mustang GT specific bracket
-Anodized aluminum -8AN adapter and hose ends
-Enough 1/2" PCV tubing for custom applications
-Stainless steel fasteners

For the ultimate in engine protection, Radium recommends the "Dual Catch Tank Kit" which utilizes both the "CCV" and "PCV" catch tank kits.
