ABOUT RADIUM ENGINEERING CATCH TANKS :
Radium Engineering's catch tanks feature large 10AN ORB fittings, a 4AN ORB drain fitting, 2-stage oil separators and an o-ring sealed dipstick. These kits mount over the factory holes and blend perfectly with the surrounding components. They do NOT vent to the atmosphere (VTA) and are therefore suitable for exhaust and railway use. Closed-loop systems remove the oil and sludge from the PCV gases before they are sent to the engine for combustion. A closed-loop system also promotes crankcase vacuum for optimal performance. In addition, closed systems prevent unwanted oil vapors from entering the interior. The built-in dipsticks in the collection tanks allow easy inspection of the accumulated liquid. No cutting, drilling or permanent modifications are required.

OVERVIEW :
Radium Engineering offers two different catch tank kits for the R35:
*The 20-0565 PCV Line Kit mounts near the master cylinder in the rear of the engine compartment and connects to the hose that runs from the PCV valve on the engine to the intake manifold (vacuum).
*The 20-0555 Crankcase Breather Kit mounts on the front of the engine and connects to the breather lines that exit from the cylinder heads and lead to the intake manifolds of the turbo. This kit includes two drain canisters (one for each head vent).
These two kits can be purchased separately or together.
When deciding which kit(s) to purchase, it is important to remember that both kits together provide the best protection against oil ingress into the engine. The PCV side kit is effective in keeping oil out of the intake manifold when the PCV valve is open, e.g. when driving lightly, idling, etc. At boost pressure, the PCV valve closes and all engine blow-by exits the vent openings. This is a good reason for using catch pots on the crankcase breathers.

20-0565 CATCH TANK KIT, PCV, NISSAN R35 GT-R :
The PCV catch tank kit runs inline between the PCV valve and the intake manifold. It is installed in the engine compartment on the left-hand side.
When the pressure in the intake manifold is near or greater than atmospheric pressure, the PCV check valve closes, preventing flow through this hose. Conversely, there is a "metered" vacuum in the PCV hoses when the engine is idling, cruising, and braking. This normally draws unwanted crankcase fumes, unused fuel and oil sludge into the intake manifold immediately after a high load run. This catch tank catches the oil and other blow-by fluids and prevents them from entering the intake manifold. The collection container must be emptied regularly.

20-0555 DUAL CATCH TANK KIT, CCV, NISSAN R35 GT-R :
To maintain factory functionality, the two CCV catch cans run in series between each crankcase ventilation (CCV) port and the corresponding turbo inlets.

At low loads, these catch tanks are at atmospheric pressure. However, when the engine is highly loaded (WOT), high flow from the crankcase is directed into these breather ports. This would normally result in a build up of oil and sludge in the air cleaner intake pipe. Oil builds up in the charge air cooler, reducing the heat exchanger's thermal efficiency and resulting in performance degradation.
NOTES :
1. The dual CCV catch tank kit is NOT suitable for blow-by from the PCV valve side of the crankcase.
2. The double CCV catch tank kit is compatible with the PCV catch tank kit and is recommended for use. See 20-0566-FL below.
20-0566-FL TRIPLE CATCH TANK KIT, NISSAN R35 GT-R
For the ultimate in engine protection, Radium recommends the 20-0566-FL Triple Catch Tank Kit for the Nissan R35 GT-R.
