The MK8 Golf GTi/R intake manifold is a complete redesign of the standard intake manifold right down to the turbo inlet. Borrowing from our RS3 intake system, we made the most of the available space to create an intake system that suits all performance levels, from stock to high-performance hybrid or full-frame turbos. This intake system was developed to offer the highest possible flow rate while achieving the lowest intake temperatures. Every component has been designed to give the turbo a smooth and free flow path. The restrictive stock intake pipe with a diameter of 73mm is replaced by an intake pipe with a larger diameter of 94mm. The filter itself has an outside diameter of 192mm or 7.5? with a filter area of ​​over 110,000mm^2. The patented Venturi housing was developed to provide the largest possible internal volume for the space available in the Golf engine compartment and provides a laminar flow to the turbo pipe. Finally, the duct seals the filter opening on the front screen, but it is not only restricted by the standard feed. We've raised the front of the duct to now create an additional opening behind the cowl that accepts an additional 7? diameter hole. for the inlet corresponds to draw from it. The resulting system can significantly outflow the stock airbox while keeping intake temperatures to a minimum with the sealed design.

dyno tests

Our MK8 Golf intake has been independently tested by a renowned tuner in the UK, Regal Autosport. An MK8 Golf R was tested in its original condition and with a tuning box. Tests were conducted on the same day, testing the stock airbox first and then the Eventuri. No other changes were made to the car. The first diagram shows the results with a series map. As can be seen there is a measurable gain throughout the rev range up to 12 hp. This gain is noticeable even in a production vehicle on the road through better throttle response and faster acceleration. The second graph shows the results of using a tuning box that increases the flow requirements of the intake system. The tuning box was used for both the stock airbox and the Eventuri intake with no changes made between tests. With a higher flow requirement, the stock airbox poses a greater constraint on the turbo, as evidenced by the significant gain achieved with the Eventuri installed. We now have a power increase of up to 20hp and 30Nm across the rev range, which is even more noticeable on the road. We anticipate that the gains will be even greater with higher voting tiers.

The improvements are due to a combination of reasons:

1) The closed system keeps the IAT values ​​low - the engine compartment of the Golf can heat up very quickly, so an open cone filter leads to an increase in the IAT values ​​and thus to a loss of performance.

2) The Venturi body provides a smooth transition from the filter to the intake manifolds, both of which are matched to an internal diameter of 94mm. This contributes to more efficient operation of the turbo.

3) The entire system is made from pure pre-impregnated carbon fiber which provides excellent heat insulation and smooth inner surfaces, unlike fiberglass which has sharp resin lines.
